“We started over coffee, we started out as friends. It’s funny how from simple things, the best things begin.” Bryan Adams/Barbara Streisand - I Finally Found Someone

Today, I am going to start off with two things. First, you cannot start a love story without referencing a cheesy love song. Second, is a little blog disclaimer. The first couple posts are going to be filled with a little more personal detail than I will likely go into on a normal basis (I promise less mushy stuff and more fun is to come). It will, however, help you understand and provide a little background on why music such an important factor in our lives and how it made its way into my blog. So, hold on to your hats, cause we are going to have to go back in time. I wont go back to childhood quite yet, (that will be a treat for those of you that really choose to stick around-lol) but I am going to tell the story of how Robert and I met and how from the very beginning, music is what brought us together. The year was 2006, my mind was telling me I was approaching spinster status, my family felt I had very little time left for providing grandchildren, people in the church thought every time I went to the alter to pray, it was for my spouse to come. Everyone was concerned. I was 27. (Spoiler alert: Any young girls reading this, if haven’t found your someone; you have time, go travel, enjoy your time, don’t worry or settle, keep the faith, God’s got you. A little patience and really letting God guide your steps really did work out splendidly for me!) In January, after a suggestion from my cousin, I decided to try a dating website she was on, (yep, that’s right!) Match.com- I had a free two-week trial. Robert came up as a match in that time frame, along with a couple others, but something about Robert was intriguing and so I reached out! We started chatting and I didn’t end up needing to go beyond my free-trial(Bonus for me!). We emailed and talked on the phone for almost a month and a half before meeting in person. Having so many conversations, we knew each other pretty well by then. We talked about everything from past relationships, family, religion and our views on the church (we were both raised AG, which was another ‘God thing” to stumble across on a secular dating website), and music. Music was a passion of both of ours. We talked about our favorite bands, instruments we played, what was up and coming, our involvement with worship teams, dreams of being in bands, concerts, we could tell right away this was going to be ‘our thing’.

To be continued….tomorrow. 😉
