"Our words are strong and our hearts are kind, let me tell you just exactly what's on my mind. You are the best thing.... That ever happened to me." Ray LaMontagne - You Are the Best Thing
I told you that it was going to get a little personal, the rest of the story is how we wrapped up 2006, don’t blink it goes fast…… After about 2 months of getting to know each other (basically ruling out ‘crazy’ as a personality trait), we decided to meet. March 12,

2006, we showed up at St. Louis Bread Company for coffee. I’m honestly not sure what his first thoughts were, but the first thing I noticed was his kind eyes. Based on our conversations and our initial interactions, I could tell this was going to be something to pursue. Our drinks emptied and we eventually had to part ways. Robert worked nights at the time and had to head on to his job, but before he got in his car, unknowingly we both had put together a ‘gift’ for one another. Both of us had made a CD of our current favorite songs (yes, this was the 2000’s version of a mixtape and your allowed to roll your eyes- it was just meant to be). Our first real date was to a concert a week later, and from that night forward, I love you’s were exchanged, plans were discussed and we were engaged in June, married in October and in December, we were breaking the news of McBaby#1 being on the way. It was a whirlwind year, that started with the exchange of two CD’s (well, and likely a well thought out algorithm, that at my best guess had ‘Love for Music’ high on our matching lists). There’s a big gap between 2006 and the current day, I’m sure I will share more from time to time, but for now all you need to know is, I wouldn’t change our guitar loving, record playing, kitchen dancing, future Mckiddo band wishing, playlist making, concert going, lives for anything in the world, and I hope to bring a little music into your lives too.
This is so sweet to hear! God definitely knew what he was doing putting you both together. Brought tears to my eyes to read what you first noticed about him. He truly does have a king heart and caring eyes. 🤗
I loved giving and receiving mix tapes! How sweet that you both thought to do that on the same date. Music choices really help show a person's current state of mind. My song selections are always changing based on moods.
